This month we’re diving into Come Fly With Me by Williamsburg author Camille Di Maio! Join us as we discuss this evocative, mid-century tale of ambition, escape, and friendship.
Set in 1962, at the dawning of the jet-set era, Come Fly With Me follows Judy Goodman and Beverly Caldwell, two women from contrasting backgrounds, as they vie for coveted positions as Pan Am stewardesses. Judy seeks freedom from an oppressive marriage in small-town Pennsylvania, while Beverly escapes the gilded cage of New York high society.
Through the rigors of airline training, long hours, unspoken secrets, and far-flung destinations, Judy and Beverly forge a powerful bond. As their personal lives intertwine, each must face hidden truths and redefining moments.
The novel not only transports us to a glamorous era of air travel — complete with strict protocols, uniform rules, and jet-age allure — but also intimately explores themes of reinvention, courage, and the strength found in deep connection.
